Abstract

Imaging the cool molecular gas in distant galaxies, the fuel for star formation, at ≤ 1 kpc resolution, is a prerequisite for future 'precision galaxy formation studies', addressing such basic issues as a Universal 'star formation law', cloud evolution and feed-back, and the dynamics and physical conditions in the cold gas in early galaxies.
