Extended Missions in Planetary Science: Impacts to Science and the Workforce
Extended planetary missions demonstrate tremendous science value. This more than justifies the relatively small expense of extending functioning missions. We recommend that the Decadal Survey explicitly highlight the value of extended missions, both in terms of scientific achievements and as an important career pipeline.
