Interactive Dashboard of Green Bank Telescope Antenna Data

The Green Bank Telescope (GBT) is the world’s largest fully-steerable radio telescope. Since its first light in August 2000, the GBT has collected over 300 million data positions. This data is stored in the GBT Archive, which is currently only accessible through command-line interfaces. We present the first interactive dashboard that visually links GBT Antenna positions to their observational data. It displays 300,000 antenna positions from 2002-2022, which we compiled by sampling their corresponding FITS files at 1Hz. Users may query the Archive based on sky positions using this interactive map, as opposed to manually typing in sky coordinates or object names. A user may then fine-tune the results by date range, receiver, backend, or session. Once this is integrated into the Archive website, it will streamline users’ interactions with GBT Archival Data, facilitating more engagement and reducing the barriers to involvement in GBT science.
