On the exploration of mesospheric and thermospheric dynamics through a large ground-based instrument network

The fundamental physical drivers and coupling processes underlying mid-to-large scale phenomena in the mesosphere and thermosphere are poorly understood due to a lack of cross-hemispheric, coordinated observations. The solution is a large network of ground-based instruments funded on a facility level to observe these phenomena and make substantive progress in the science of these phenomena.
