On-demand deployables: From sounding rockets to space-based missions in the study of E-region neutral- and electrodynamics
Small and mid-scale phenomena in Earth’s thermosphere and E-region are severely under-sampled. Satellite observations are horizontally smeared and ground-based observations are insufficient. The solution: a modernization of the falling spheres technique to probe in situ the neutral and electrodynamics between 80 and 200 km.
