Ground-Based Monitoring of the Variability of Visible Solar Spectral Lines for Improved Understanding of Solar and Stellar Magnetism and Dynamics

We illustrate the scientific return and explore the technical requirements of a network of spectrographs devoted to long-term monitoring disk-integrated, solar spectral variability at high spectral resolution and high photometric accuracy. The proposed sun-as-a-star observations offer the opportunity for a variety of multidisciplinary studies including stellar variability and Sun-Earth connection.
