Space Weather Modeling and Prediction for Intermediate Time-scales

Enhanced solar activity bursts, or quasi-annual “seasons” of activity, followed by a quiet period, lead to similar quasi-periodic “seasons” of space weather. Forecasting space weather on time-scales of hours-to-days and decades-to-centuries received great attention. Recent discovery of solar Rossby waves reveal a golden opportunity to simulate space weather on weeks-to-months in advance.
