Importance of the semidiurnal tide, and future measurements needed to improve its characterization

Observations of semidiurnal tides are critically needed to advance understanding of interactions between the lower and upper atmosphere. Many factors about these interactions remain unknown due to the lack of observations at altitudes between 90-200 km. We propose to invest in ground-based infrastructure, implement DYNAMIC-like mission, and strengthen inter-division and inter-agency links
