Space physics is behind the curve in terms of statistical rigor

Statistical hypothesis tests and checks for statistical significance are standard in other fields of science, but relatively uncommon in space physics. Lack of statistical rigor can create obstacles for reproducibility and harm the reputation of the field. I recommend increased education in statistics and that statistical rigor be considered when evaluating submissions for funding or publication.
