Space physicists need to up their software development game
Most space physicists have little or no formal training in computer science or software engineering. This leads to shortcomings in software development efforts, harming the reliability of the software and the reproducibility of research. In addition, poor understanding of software licensing leads to license violations and misleading statements about software licenses.
