Heliophysics Needs a Mission Element between MIDEX and Flagship
Heliophysics has entered an era in which the nature of our science questions has outpaced the ability of our mission opportunities to adequately address them. We argue that our discipline needs a new PI-led mission element, called HelioProbes, with a ~$500M–$1B (FY22) cost cap that would fill the capability gap between MIDEX ($250M, FY20) and Flagship (~>$1B)
