Ionosphere-thermosphere system science and the use of distributed heterogeneous data arrays: vector fields, volumetric densities, auroral imagery

This Helio2050 white paper encapsulates the system science justifications of the recent Midex CSR for the ARCS mission, a localized swarm of 32 cubesats over a dedicated groundbased imagery array of 32 Alaskan camera sites, with localized tomography between the two. This heterogeneous, multiplatform, distributed measurement system constrains physics-based modelling of auroral plasma physics.
