Whitepaper #329 in the Decadal Survey for Solar and Space Physics (Heliophysics) 2024-2033. Main topics: basic research; infrastructure/workforce/other programmatic. Additional topics: ground-based missions/projects; system science; research tools and infrastructure.
This white paper discusses the significance and potential of coordinating a chain of ground-based instruments with the current large facilities to extend the latitudinal and longitudinal observational coverage in the American sector. We further discuss the benefits of co-locating heterogeneous instruments with different techniques and different temporal/spatial resolution/coverage.
