Understanding the Evolution of Planetary Atmospheres: the need for an Earth-based atmospheric escape mission

Planetary atmospheres evolve with time in a complex way. To this point, we do not even understand what factors affect atmospheric escape. The only way to improve our understanding is by filling the observational gaps that exist to date. We present an attractive mission architecture to fill this gap by studying (and quantifying) atmospheric escape from our own planet, Earth.
