Requirements on Neutral Wind Observations in the Upper Atmosphere to Advance Thermospheric Predictions

This white paper describes how neutral winds are critical to advance our current understanding of the physical processes in the upper atmosphere, underlying the basic foundation of the ionosphere and atmosphere interaction, and how the existing gaps in observations have hampered the efficacy of global space weather research and forecasting capabilities.
