A big challenge in Ionosphere/Thermosphere science is measuring high latitude particle inputs while also measuring the response of the thermosphere and ionosphere. Far Ultraviolet imagers, like NASA’s TIMED/GUVI can provide that capability from low-cost space platforms. Improved gratings and detectors will enable next generation instruments to provide additional information for new science.
