Cross-scale physics and the acceleration of particles in collisionless plasmas throughout the Heliosphere and beyond: II. Magnetic reconnection

Earth’s magnetotail is an ideal natural laboratory to study particle acceleration associated with magnetic reconnection; dedicate research there. Heliophysics should also consider studying reconnection-related acceleration in other space plasma environments including: solar and solar wind; Jupiter’s magnetosphere; Uranus’ magnetosphere; the heliosheath, heliopause, and local interstellar medium.
