The Critical Coronal Transition Region: A Physics-framed Strategy to Uncover the Genesis of the Solar Wind and Solar Eruptions

The corona within 10 Rs is the host of physical processes critical for understanding solar activity. We argue that the exploration of this Coronal Transition Region will answer two of the most central Heliophysics questions, ‘How and where does the solar wind and CMEs form?’ by unifying hardware/software/modeling development and seemingly disparate research communities and frameworks.
