Midlatitude and subauroral region studies: essential for understanding of key atmosphere–ionosphere–thermosphere–magnetosphere dynamic processes

The subauroral and midlatitude upper atmosphere is much more dynamic and complex than anticipated not too long ago. We should emphasize midlatitude and subauroral science in upcoming observation systems, satellite missions, and modeling efforts. We must synchronously push the boundaries of joint ground and space multi-scale instrument networks for high fidelity and wide-field observations.
