The 2nd release of the Turin-SyCAT

We present the release of the 2nd version of the Turin-SyCAT. We extracted sources belonging to the class of Seyfert galaxies from a multifrequency analysis of all sources listed in the 3rd release of the Palermo Swift-BAT hard X-ray catalog (3PBC). In the extensive multifrequency analysis of the 3PBC, we listed 820 extragalactic, 356 Galactic, 199 unclassified, and 218 unidentified hard X-ray sources. We adopted homogeneous and stringent criteria in the Turin-SyCAT source selection, aiming to reduce contamination from other source classes. Furthermore, we visually inspected the optical spectra for all selected sources. In the 2nd version of the Turin-SyCAT, we list 633 Seyfert galaxies: 351 type 1 and 282 type 2. The 2nd version includes 282 new sources corresponding to an increment of ∼80 % with respect to the previous release. Comparing the hard X-ray and the infrared emissions of Seyfert galaxies, we confirm that there is no clear difference between the flux distribution of the infrared-to-hard X-ray flux ratio of Seyfert galaxies Type 1 and Type 2. However, there is a significant trend between the mid-IR flux and hard X-ray flux, confirming previous statistical results in the literature.
