A Comprehensive Study of the X-ray Properties of Optically Selected Tidal Disruption Event

Wide-field time-domain surveys have accelerated the discovery rate of tidal disruption events (TDE) in the last decade, enabling population studies for the first time. Follow-up observations of TDEs in the X-rays allow us to probe the inner accretion structure, the disk-corona evolution, and its relation with the optical/UV emitting region in these systems. I will present a systematic analysis of all X-ray-detected TDEs discovered by optical surveys between 2014 and 2021 using XMM-Newton and Swift/XRT data. I present the incredible diversity of X-ray light curve behaviours, which often do not follow the canonical fallback rate, as well as the general properties of their extremely soft thermal X-ray spectra, highlighting three sources in which the real-time formation of the hard X-ray emitting corona was observed.
