Status of the Single Crystal Silicon X-ray Mirror Technology

The objective of NGXO is to develop and mature an X-ray mirror technology that is capable of building and delivering a mirror assembly for flagship missions like Lynx, Probe missions like AXIS, HEX-P, and LEM, Explorer missions like STAR-X, and sub-orbital missions like OGRE. This technology combines the stress-free nature of single crystal silicon with advanced polishing techniques to make mirror segments that are of higher figure quality than the Chandra mirror shells, but are more than ten times thinner and therefore lighter. The technology includes four key elements: mirror fabrication, mirror coating, mirror alignment, and mirror bonding. This presentation will give an update of this technology.
