Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE): Mission Overview and Status

On 2022 January 11, after a one-month commissioning period, the NASA-ASI Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) began science operations, characterizing for the first time the x-ray (2–8 keV) polarization of about 40 sources per year. After a brief description of the IXPE Observatory itself, this presentation provides an overview of the operations concept, status, and anticipated transition in 2024 January to a General Observer facility.

This report is presented on behalf of the IXPE Science Team.
