MagNetUS: A Magnetized Plasma Research Ecosystem

In this talk, we will introduce MagNetUS, a recently established nationwide ecosystem for the scientific community interested in magnetized plasma research, with applications to space and astrophysics, fusion, and other topics. MagNetUS aims to: broaden and diversify participation in magnetized plasma research; foster collaboration between experimental, numerical, theoretical, diagnostic, and software development efforts; and establish strong educational programs to support the next generation of scientist working in magnetized plasmas. Run-time on MagNetUS-affiliated experimental facilities is available to all through a peer-reviewed proposal process. We will present an overview of MagNetUS, affiliated laboratory plasma facilities, and examples of recent successful experimental campaigns to study astrophysically-relevant phenomena being performed on these facilities.
