Presentation #211.06 in the session Gravitational Waves and Lensing.
TEMPLATES (Targeting Extremely Magnified Panchromatic Lensed Arcs and their Extended Star formation) is one of the Director’s Discretionary Early Release Science programs that were designed to jump-start discoveries early in the JWST mission lifetime. TEMPLATES pairs the exquisite spatial resolution and spectroscopic capabilities of JWST with natural telescopes — strong gravitational lenses. The science goals of TEMPLATES are spatially resolving the star formation in four gravitationally lensed galaxies, and characterizing the physical conditions of star formation in galaxies across a broad range of dust obscuration. We summarize the TEMPLATES program, highlight early science results, describe key challenges in the data reduction, and show where users can download our notebooks to reduce similar JWST data, in particular integral field spectroscopy with NIRSpec and MIRI.
