The History of Dark Skies From a Naval Observatory Perspective
The effort to preserve Flagstaff and Coconino County’s dark skies is over six decades old. A key factor in historical and future efforts to preserve dark skies is interaction with proposed developers and their planned projects. I will talk about two cases in particular: the Yellow Freight Depot project in Coconino County and relighting the Thorpe Park ballfields in the city of Flagstaff.
