New Insights into Solar Flares by Solar Orbiter/STIX

The hard X-ray imaging spectrometer STIX onboard Solar Orbiter has been operational continuously from the start of 2021 and over 30,000 flares have been recorded so far. In this presentation we report on science highlights focusing on non-thermal aspects of flares such as: 1) microflare observations at maximal sensitivity during perihelion; 2) fast time variability, and 3) the detection of non-thermal hard X-ray sources from the anchor points of an erupting filament.
