Presentation #105.06 in the session Ambient Solar Atmosphere Posters.
We employ an automated hot loop footpoint finding routine with manual plage and loop designation techniques to categorize the Si IV emission observed by IRIS. We find significantly enhanced emission wherever our routine recognizes footpoints, both in and out of plage. From this, we infer that the corona provides a large proportion of the energy radiated away by the transition region at log T ~ 4.9. We briefly consider implications for interpretation of the transition region filling factor and differential emission measure, as well as the hypothesis of unresolved fine structure.
