Modeling the Solar Wind Flowing Along Open Magnetic Field Lines with FLUXPipe

FLUX utilizes a pseudo-lagrangian framework to simulate coronal magnetic fields. It traces fluxons, discrete lines of magnetic flux, through the magnetic environment to calculate plasma parameter values. This approach allows FLUX to operate with an adaptive resolution and high scalability by computing only along the field lines and interpolating values in between.

This work presents FLUXPipe, an innovative algorithm incorporated into FLUX, which integrates various routines into an automated processing pipeline using the python computing language. With this, users can select any Carrington Rotation and the software will automatically perform all the necessary steps to generate modeled output of solar wind velocity. This work covers the code’s functionality, how to access and install FLUX from github, and provides initial scientific findings.
