Presentation #109.01 in the session Helioseismology and Solar Interior Posters.
Convection in the outer zones of the Sun are known to be the source of excitation of p-modes. However, flares and other energetic events in the solar atmosphere have been reported to bring additional excitation to the modes. Here, we review some previous works and then apply a statistical analysis using GOLF and VIRGO data to assess if CME, flares, or cluster of flares induce p-mode power variations. We conclude that it is not the case and comment on previous statements.
