Comparison of meridional-flow measurements using 11+ years of HMI and GONG data

The Sun’s meridional circulation is crucial to understanding its dynamo and interior dynamics. However, the helioseismic determination of deep solar meridional flows are complicated by multiple systematic effects, and previous studies have provided inconsistent results. Here we use 11+ years of similarly prepared HMI and GONG data to make helioseismic measurements by different measurement schemes as in previous studies, and then compare the meridional-flow measurements by different methods and data sets. We will present how the systematics, including the center-to-limb effect, cross-equator-flow effect, and a new East-West asymmetry effect, differ in instruments and vary with time. We also compare the meridional-flow results as measured by different methods and data sets.
