Magnetic field in the ionosphere due to field aligned current.

Expressing the magnetic field induced by field-aligned currents (FACs) in the compact form is important for analysis of total magnetic field, including the planet’s dipole, ring current, and Dungey term. We propose to look for a pair of Euler potentials, the curl of the magnetic field derived with them is consistent with the known FAC global pattern. The method is applied for any current system in the volume. This research was supported by NSF grant 2230363. M. V. acknowledges support from the AV CR grant RVO:67985815.
