Presentation #142.07 in the session New and Emerging Technologies for Astronomy Education.
I will describe my experiences and experiments over the past five years with the digital platform Perusall, which enables students to collaboratively annotate course readings and videos. From my perspective as an instructor of flipped classes, this tool has many advantages, including its ability to identify and summarize common points of confusion and enable students to improve one another’s understanding of the pre-class material. I will describe my efforts to help students use the tool to their advantage, particularly its ability to provide real time feedback with AI-generated auto-grading.
