The COSI Nucleosynthesis Science Goals

The excellent energy resolution of COSI will allow us to reveal the dynamics of element formation in the Milky Way. We will map and resolve the distributions of ²⁶Al and ⁶⁰Fe to determine element mixing and production sites. Also, we will search for hidden young SNRs using ⁴⁴Ti decay gamma rays. These key science goals will be presented, including current status (simulations, analysis tools).
